Black Coral is currently looking for an intermediate to senior Software Developer to join our product’s software development team.

Description:

The Software Developer will contribute in modifying, enhancing, and maintaining Black Coral’s core suite of software products with a focus on inter-system communication.

Skills:

The candidate applying for the software developer position should possess the following skills: :

  • Demonstrates solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Quality Assurance requirements and software development control and release procedures
  • Hands on experience with some or all of the following Microsoft technologies: .NET Framework (2.0, 3.0, 3.5), C#, Windows Communications Framework, Visual Studio, Windows XP/Vista
  • Demonstrable knowledge of advanced concepts such as threading, Client/Server, peer-to-peer (P2P), reflection, design patterns, web services (SOAP/REST), etc.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, challenging environment

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in application and/or web-based development

Assets:

  • Secure communication concepts
  • N-Tier architecture design principles

Technical Writer

Terms of Employment: This is a term position, for up to 6 months, for either full or part-time work
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Head Office – Ottawa, Ontario

In support of our on-going software development and sales process, we require the skills of a Technical Writer to create, maintain, and manage our technical documentation for internal and external use.

The Technical Writer is responsible for writing, editing and revising documentation for internal and external corporate use. This includes the production of software documentation, user manuals, white papers and online help. The technical writer works closely with our engineering and product management team.

Skills:

The candidate applying for the technical writer position should have experience writing software manuals. In addition:

  • The candidate should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment
  • The candidate excels at writing clear, concise documentation for a technical market where the end users have varying levels of technical experience
  • The candidate is an organized individual who learns quickly and knows how to ask effective questions to gather the information needed
  • The candidate is a motivated individual who has excellent written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications:

  • Degree, Diploma or equivalent plus practical experience in writing technical documentation.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
  • Language – Creative and knowledgeable about the structure and content of the English language including rules of composition, grammar, and demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active Listener and Learner – Good listener and questioner.
  • Information Gathering - Knows how to find and identify essential information.
  • Familiarity with Doc-to-Help is an asset.

SaaS Inside Sales Position

Our success in the marketplace demands the expansion of our sales operations so that we can continue to respond to our growing customer list and proactively obtain new business. We are seeking a strategic, results driven Inside Sales Representative. In this position, you will be responsible for selling Black Coral Emergency Management and Incident Management solutions. If you are a dynamic and technical Inside Sales Representative, we invite you to be a part of our world class sales team. Qualified candidates will be proven professionals with a strong working knowledge of the selling process. Candidates must be self-directed, able to work in a team environment and have a strong personal initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain an in-depth knowledge of Black Coral products, partners and markets.
  • Manage a closed loop evaluation cycle within accounts and drive deployment.
  • Generate and follow up on sales leads and meet or exceed assigned quota.
  • Engage sales reps in targeted VARs & System Integrators for joint sales call activities.
  • Qualify direct opportunities in our market and move them through the sales process including closing sales.
  • Develop proposals and respond to RFPs and RFQs.
  • Provide competitive feedback for assigned geographic territory.
  • Consistently maintain heavy call volume in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct web presentations to prospective clients in conjunction with Systems Engineers.
  • Find posted opportunities for Black Coral to bid on, notably merx.com and govbid.com.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years selling b2b solutions with demonstrated quota achievement.
  • Experience developing new accounts from cold call to close.
  • Experience selling computer software or systems including Emergency Management products.
  • Prior knowledge/experience of Managed service, on demand or SaaS (Software as a Service). Experience in the Emergency management market space is preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships with key influencers within the account base.
  • Ability to create and uncover new opportunities from cold call initiatives.
