Black Coral Announces Public Safety Canada Contract Award

Ottawa, Ontario, April 12, 2007: Black Coral Inc. (www.blackcoral.net) announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Public Safety Canada to establish an operational application to share and access geospatial data and information between federal government public safety departments in order to improve situational awareness. Among others, the project's deliverables include: a) developing a common situation picture application to enable the sharing of geospatial data and information between participating government organizations; and b) developing a draft standard for specifying the interfaces for sharing data and services among the Public Safety Community of Practice through the adoption and profiling of existing standards. The Public Safety GeoInfoExchange Project will benefit directly from the use of the new Black Coral SERVER product. The main capability of Black Coral SERVER is to provide a virtual community with the ability to share information that has geospatial relevance.

"In order to meet the requirements of the GeoInfoExchange Project, Black Coral is pleased to be teaming with Amec Americas, CAE Professional Services, ESRI Canada, and Powerscourt Innovations", said Douglas Duncan, Black Coral's president and CEO. "Together, we look forward to demonstrating our ability to enable improved decision making in the public safety community by implementing a shared situational awareness and interoperability solution."

Public Safety Canada obtained support for this project from GeoConnections, a national partnership initiative led by Natural Resources Canada.
