Black Coral Demonstrates SoftRisk 6.0 at Governor's Hurricane Conference
Ottawa, Ontario, May 13, 2008: Black Coral, Inc. is demonstrating SoftRisk 6.0 at the 22nd Annual Governor's Hurricane Conference, booth #1003, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on May 14-15, 2008. SoftRisk 6.0 is a Web-based incident management tool for emergency managers that integrates mission-critical resource and mapping data needed in an emergency into one software application. SoftRisk was originally designed and fielded in the 1990s. The new 6.0 version builds on this legacy with highly-enhanced features specifically designed for local, regional, and state agencies to deal with a wide range of emergency situations. SoftRisk 6.0 complies with NIMS and ICS Standards. "Faced with recent budget cuts, emergency managers are looking to the Web for more cost effective ways to manage critical resources as they prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters," said Douglas Duncan, Chief Executive Officer of Black Coral. In today's world of rapid communication, emergency managers are looking for resources and tools to respond to the public expectation of preparedness and protection. SoftRisk 6.0 responds to this need by providing an integrated framework, including rich geospatial mapping, for managing incidents and deploying resources for planning and responding to emergencies. Darrell O'Donnell, Chief Technology Officer for Black Coral, added "The mapping capability embedded in SoftRisk, 'right out-of-the-box,' means that emergency managers immediately see all of their critical information displayed on an incident-centric map." Offered on a subscription basis, SoftRisk is delivered via the Web in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business model, without the burden and up-front cost of installed enterprise programs. This makes SoftRisk 6.0 feasible and affordable for local governments and agencies. It eliminates the need for self-hosted solutions that require IT infrastructure and support, but also ensuring that data is highly secure and always available. With its intuitive user-friendly interface, SoftRisk requires minimal training and can be rapidly deployed. About Black Coral Inc.
