Black Coral Launches SoftRisk 6.0 at National Hurricane Conference
Ottawa, Ontario, March 31, 2008: Black Coral, Inc. announces the launch of SoftRisk 6.0, a Web-based incident management tool for emergency managers. The first presentation of this new version to a public audience will occur at the National Hurricane Conference in Orlando, Florida, on April 2, 2008. SoftRisk was originally designed and fielded in the 1990s. The new 6.0 version builds on this legacy with highly-enhanced features specifically designed for local, regional, and state agencies to deal with a wide range of emergency situations. SoftRisk 6.0 complies with NIMS and ICS Standards. "This new version of SoftRisk is a culmination of years of emergency management and military incident experience, combined with leading-edge technical development," said Douglas Duncan, Chief Executive Officer of Black Coral. In today’s world of rapid communication, emergency managers are looking for resources and tools to respond to the public expectation of preparedness and protection. SoftRisk 6.0 responds to this need by providing an integrated framework, including rich geospatial mapping, for managing incidents and deploying resources for planning and responding to emergencies. Don Williams, Vice President of Sales for Black Coral added, "I have seen the SoftRisk program grow from its inception, and this new Web-based version gives legions of new users access to state-of-the-art emergency management." Offered on a subscription basis, SoftRisk is delivered via the Web in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business model, without the burden and up-front cost of installed enterprise programs. This makes SoftRisk 6.0 feasible and affordable for local governments and agencies. It eliminates the need for self-hosted solutions that require IT infrastructure and support, but also ensuring that data is highly secure and always available. With its intuitive user-friendly interface, SoftRisk requires minimal training and can be rapidly deployed. About Black Coral Inc.
